Lesson 2.1

This section has emphasized the fact that references to religion can be found in pop culture, such as lyrics or lines used in movies, music, and book themes. Religion and culture complement one another through out history. Religion influences culture and the byproducts of culture, meaning art, music, etc.; and culture influences religion and religious practices.

For instance, Religion has influenced pop culture by way of songs by artists such as One Direction, The Fray, and Thomas Rhett contain references to higher powers; such as the Christian God, Jesus, or gods in general.

On the other hand, Religion can be influenced by pop culture. One example can be found in Christian Worship services. Modern pop music styles have been used by new Christian music artists to create new worship music, which some churches are have started to use in their music worship services.
